--------------------------
As someone I consider part of the Singulate journey this year, I wanted to say thank you and share an end-of-year update about how it’s going at Singulate.
Fast facts:
- We raised $2.3m in pre-seed funding, hired a team of 10, and are 6 months into building the product.
- We announced the company out of stealth in October and our waitlist exploded to 1,220+
- We brought on 6 amazing strategic GTM advisors (who will be announcing soon), worked with 50+ beta testers, and in one month brought in 11 companies as design partners.
What we’ve built:
- A next gen email marketing platform. With a full HTML campaign editor, analytics, and the ability to send hyper-personalized campaigns through Hubspot, SendGrid, Zapier, and Singulate itself.
- The easiest micro-segmentation builder in the market. Imagine Marketo but using simple natural language interfaces to build smart lists, do data transformation on the fly, and verify AI outputs at scale. Singulate is the most versatile editor for personalizing content at scale. I’ve studied the competition and nothing comes close.
- Data automation. Easily integrate Hubspot data, CSV exports, with instant smart mapping. View list insights, apply enrichment, and create templates for automating hyper-personalized form responses (Contact sales, event registrations, etc.).
- Admin and safety features. We’ve released no-click auto-saving, multi-user editor locks, domain authentication for greater deliverability, content controls, final-minute personal edits, and suggested reviewing. Coming soon: AI Intelligent Reviewers.
What we’ve learned:
- The timing couldn’t be better. AI hype is starting to wear off new research shows, but the investment in AI tools is just beginning. Huge companies are entering buying cycles to upgrade their outdated marketing stack with next gen platforms like ours. Verticalization of LLMs at the application layer is happening right now. Linkedin is having its heyday, but there’s a groundswell of disruption coming to email. Broadscale messaging in general is entering a personalization renaissance and we’re positioned to be a leader of the movement.
- The problem sells itself. The pain in segmentation and personalization at scale is overwhelming. 95% of our demos lead to a second conversation because the interest in our solution is so strong. So when a marketer sees Singulate, they want it. And the decision-maker wants it to because we make one of the most cost-efficient growth channels of a business (email marketing) drive 3-7X more performance in less time and without burning through lists or ruining brand reputation.
- Product velocity is critical in the early stages. We’ve found that, in these first 6 months, a key signal in how we’re doing hinges upon how well we can maintain a balance between knowing the right features to build and the speed at which we ship. A startup like us drastically improves our chances of success if we are thoughtful in our prioritization and fast in our execution. This is a startup’s competitive advantage amid an innovation wave like the one we’re in. We plan to keep our foot on the gas (electric?) pedal.
What next year holds:
- Raising the volume about our product. We’ve done no paid marketing, no GTM hires, and haven’t recorded one public demo of Singulate yet. I’ve been active on Linkedin and gone to a handful of conferences, but during the waitlist stage, Marketing is all fluff until it's proven by the Product. We’ve been waiting to turn on the marketing engine specifically amplifying Singulate’s product. I expect this to help us cut through the noise quite a bit.
- Launching the product and scaling GTM. Related to the above point, we have yet to launch the product! We’ll be working closely with our design partners over the next couple months to develop and polish the product while also scaling our go-to-market machine ahead of a big product launch moment mid-year 2025.
- Fundraising & growing the team. To power these initiatives, we’ll raise a funding round to accelerate growth, expand the team, and land the launch of our product’s first channel.
Personally, I’ve already grown a ton while on this journey, and it’s only just begun.
I’ve leveled up as a founder, leader, and a marketer — I’m deeply grateful for my cofounders John and Nico and our progress so far with the team we’ve assembled.
There are always risks involved in starting a company. There are always bumps in the road, especially when you’re just starting out. But every month brings new confidence and with it, excitement for the future.
Thanks for your support and cheers to a great 2024. I hope you enjoy the holidays with rest and reflection and come to the doorstep of 2025 renewed and refreshed.
All the best,
Dave
